Disaster Designation for North Minneapolis
Recently, after surveying the damage done by the tornadoes, Sens. Klobuchar and Franken as well as Representative Ellison urged President Obama to expedite the disaster designation for the storm-damaged area.
The widespread damage to homes, businesses, and public infrastructure caused over $16 million in damages (the minimum amount necessary for damages to qualify for a federal disaster declaration). Sen. Franken and his colleagues called on the President to expedite the process so that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) can begin to supplement state and local recovery efforts.
This federal aid would help Minneapolis rebuild and go a long way towards repairing the damage caused to the thousands of Minnesotans affected by the storm.
