Consumer Financial Protection
Strong consumer protections are at the heart of the Wall Street Reform bill that was signed into law in 2010. The bill protects consumers and holds Wall Street accountable. It creates a strong consumer watchdog agency to look out for the interests of Minnesota families, ensuring that consumers are protected when they're dealing with credit cards, student loans, and retirement accounts. Senator Franken's Restore Integrity to Credit Ratings amendment will further protect consumers by eliminating the inherit conflict of interest within the credit rating system.
