Dairy COOL
Last year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s current Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) law went into effect requiring country of origin labeling of meats, produce, and nuts. With this information, consumers will know what country their food comes from and can make the choice to support U.S. goods if they wish. Senator Franken has since introduced the Dairy COOL Act, which would extend mandatory country of origin labeling to dairy products. Supported by the Minnesota Farmers Union, this bill would help Minnesota dairy farmers to stand out in a crowded marketplace.
