Al Franken (D-Minn.) once again took to the floor of the Senate to urge his colleagues to pass the Marketplace Fairness Act, which would end the unfair advantage that online retailers have over Minnesota's brick-and-mortar retailers. In his speech, he highlighted the situation faced by Norby's, a department store in downtown Detroit Lakes that has been an anchor of the community for decades, and which, like brick-and-mortar retailers all over Minnesota, struggles to compete with online retailers that are not required to collect sales tax.
